Busy summer ahead for RAPP and Get Activ8d
Wednesday 14th of July 2010
East Hampshire children are in for a busy summer holiday with more than 94 Rapp and Get Activ8d activities for them to try.
From football to dance, from big art to martial art and from cycling to circus skills there's plenty for young people to do right across the district.
Get Activ8d remains free to 8-16yr olds and focuses on sports and active sessions. Among the highlights are a three-day football summer camp at Horndean Technology College, supported by Travaux Football Club, the ever-popular Pro-jumping team with their amazing spring-heeled stilts, and a perfect performance of Glee at the Petersfield School.
The Get Activ8d team will also be heading to Bordon for the Eco-town Launch on Thursday 29 July, at 3pm, being opened by a VIP.
The Rural Area Play Project (RAPP) also has a packed programme of fun events for children aged up to 12. A £3 charge is made each session for children over five years old while four year olds and younger still go free.
Highlights include den building samba drumming, messy play, cycling, getting messy with clay, team building, a potted sports afternoon, Gruffalo hunting, making smoothies and painting with mud.
The RAPP is also working with Hampshire County Council's Festival of Learning at Merchistoun Hall, Horndean, on Wednesday 28 July to provide a fun-filled family event for parents and children in the morning (this requires separate booking).
And on 4 August RAPP is hosting a National Play Day at Herne Junior School with activities including the Fire Flood and Salvage Fire.
See the full programme on www.getactivenow.org.uk from Friday 16 July.
