Former councillor Don Mayes dies

Former East Hampshire District Councillor and Mayor of Whitehill, Don Mayes, has died.
The 76-year-old had served EHDC in two spells being elected to the role in 1991 and in 2003.
A well-respected member of the community he was elected mayor of Whitehill four times in 1992-3, 1993-94, 1995-96 and 2006-7.
Judy Onslow, chairman of EHDC, said: "Don was a conscientious, enthusiastic councillor who had the interests of the people of Whitehill Bordon at heart.
"He will be sadly missed by his former colleagues here at EHDC and by the community he served so well."
Current Mayor of Whitehill Adam Carew said: "Bordon has just lost one of its leading lights. Don was a great champion for the people of Bordon."
