Take part in one of the biggest moments in Whitehill Bordon's history

This week's consultation event will be one of the most important moments in Whitehill Bordon's history, according to East Hampshire District Council Leader Ferris Cowper.

Residents are expected to turn out on Saturday 4 April at the Forest Community Centre to take part in a day which could help shape a bright and exciting future for the town and its surrounds.

Cllr Cowper said: "The forthcoming years will see a momentous transition in Whitehill Bordon as it moves into one of the most - if not the most - significant periods in its history.

"This consultation is a key step on the road to East Hampshire District Council realising its vision for a sustainable, thriving, confident town.

"It is our best chance, both for the council and for local residents, to influence that future and push for the town we deserve. These are exciting times for the people of Whitehill Bordon and I would urge everyone to come and see the exhibition of bold and innovative ideas displayed at the Forest Community Centre on Saturday.

"This town is going places, make sure you are a part of it."

People can drop in on the event from 10am until 4pm and speak to masterplanners, study an exhibition of imaginative ideas for the future of the town and record their own views. Parish meetings are also planned earlier in the week to give everyone a chance to get involved.

The consultation centres on East Hampshire District Council's Green Town Vision, which aims to give the town the infrastructure, housing and facilities it craves.

The bid to make Whitehill Bordon an Eco-town is one part of that vision and could give the whole area prestige and vital funding.

Councillor Ian Dowdle, Portfolio Holder for Whitehill Bordon, said: "Please come along, tell your family, your friends or better still come along together to the open day. Your input is critical to the future success of our town.

"This is the opportunity to influence the development which will occur on MOD sites once they become vacant.

"This is about a plan for the town and what it will become. A moment of your time now has the potential to affect years and generations to come - please come along  and get involved.

"For nearly five years you have been telling us what the town lacks and what it needs. This is the opportunity to see how it will potentially look, what improvements are possible, choose between various options, and have your say."

As well the exhibition there will be presentations and workshops running throughout the day as people drop in. Children will also be entertained by Lord Geoffrey the balloon modeller.

Questionnaires will be circulated and completed forms will be entered into two £100 prize draws.

There will also be meetings at the Kingsley Centre, Kingsley, on Wednesday 1April at 7.30pm until 9pm and at Old Thorns Golf Hotel and Country Estate on Thursday 2 April, also from 7.30pm to 9pm.

There is also a stakeholders workshop on Thursday 2 April from 10am until 1pm at the Forest Community Centre and from 6.30pm to 9.30pm at Hollywater School.
